Main tasks consisted in guiding tours and working as a deckhand. Along the tours, information regarding the wildlife and the surroundings was provided.

Field trips were onboard a zodiac. Tasks included driving the vessel, animal spotting and sighting data collection , turtle capture and marking and assistance in biopsy data sample of cetaceans. Subsequent data processing and mapping.


Marine Mammal Observer and Passive Acoustic Monitor - Project Biometore - Arditi, Museu da Baleia da Madeira (Madeira Islands, Portugal)

August 2016 - February 2017

The oceanographic campaign took place around the geological complex Madeira-Tore (2 surveys of 20 days each). Main tasks included cetaceans' observation and acoustic data collection; participation in water sampling for DNA, plankton and mesopelagic community; cetaceans’ data processing and analyses, based on a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach.

working as part of the passive acoustic monitoring team while recording acoustic data on cetaceans , using all the equipment and specialized software (PMAGUARD).


Researcher at the Madeira Whale Museum (Madeira Islands, Portugal)

Main tasks consisted on working on photo-identification of bottlenose dolphins, including cetacean observation and data collection and maintenance of the photo-identification catalogue resorting to Darwin software.


Fisheries' Observer - POPA (Observation Program of Azores' Fisheries) (Azores, Portugal)

April - July 2015

Monitoring the tuna fishing activities (stock quantification and characterization) insuring there were no intentional molestation or mortality of cetaceans and collecting data on cetaceans, turtles and marine birds observation (10 hours per day). Every shipping would take around 7 days at sea.


Monitor of pedagogical activities at Mundo Cientifico/SERRALVES (Porto, Portugal)

Lecturing 4 to 13 year old students, and taking part in activities such as BioBlitz and SERRALVES em Festa, aimed to all age groups.

Taking part in land base observations from New Quay pier; photo-identification studies from research vessels; line transects surveys of bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoise, and grey seals; boat surveys on-board local commercial passenger, maintenance of photo-identification catalogue of bottlenose dolphins in Cardigan Bay; interpretation and public awareness activities.


Volunteer in the Blue World Institute of Marine Research and Conservation (Croatia)

Volunteers took part in behavioural observations, acoustics and photo-ID of dolphins from an inflatable boat and helping organizing the photo-ID catalogue.

Final project included the participation in filed work with Grupo Lobo Reaserch team, searching for traces of wolf in the study area; data collection regarding the project theme (“Supplementary feeding resources of a wolf pack in a highly humanized area”), crossing and analysing data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).


Volunteer in AAP Foundation  (The Netherlands)

August - September 2010

Participation in the animal care taking at the primate department, working with different kind of macaques (barbaries, rhesus, crab-eating), vervets and baboons. The primary responsibilities included cleaning the cages and changing cage furniture, feeding the animals 3 times a day, preparing and providing enrichment, preparing the food for the animals, assist in writing a daily report about the health and behavioural status of the animals.


Volunteer Coordinator and Keeper in the Iberian Wolf Recovering Centre (Portugal)

August - September 2008

Responsible for the monitoring and nursing, as well as medical treatment administration on two wolf pups and volunteer coordinator (Portuguese and foreign residents). Every volunteer would participate in the feeding; animal observation and data collection concerning their behaviour and physical ability; forest protection and maintenance.
